SUMMER CLASSES
 HAND SEWERS (AGES 5-8)    
6 WEEKS, 3 Days a week (Monday – Wednesday or Thursday – Saturday)
WEEK 1 – INTRODUCTION TO HANDSEWING
·         What is in your sewing kit
·         Safety rules in Hand sewing
·         How to thread and knot a needle
·         Different types of stitches and their uses.
·         How to sew running stitches and whip stitches
·         How to sew-on a button
·         Make your own needle book, pin cushion and scissors holder

WEEK 2 – PROJECT 1: FANCY WALLET
·         Introduction to the materials to be used for the wallet
·         Tracing the pattern and cutting the fabric
·         Pining the fabrics to prepare for sewing
·         Sewing together the pieces
·         Try your hands on your own design: Express your own ideas

WEEK 3 – PROJECT 2: STUFFED ANIMALS
·         Introduction to stuffed animals and the materials to be used
·          Tracing the pattern and cutting the fabric
·         Pining the fabrics and prepare for sewing
·         Stuffing the animals with fibre
·         Try your hands on your own design

WEEK 4 – PROJECT 3: CUTE HAIR PIECES
·         Introduction to the materials to be used
·         Tracing the pattern unto the fabric and cutting it out
·         Prepare fabric for sewing
·         Sewing the flower and bow
·         Try your hands on your own design
·         Personalize with notions like beads, sequins or buttons

WEEK 5 – PROJECT 4: PENCIL CASE
·         Introduction to the materials for the project
·         Tracing pattern unto the fabric and cutting it out
·         Joining and sewing the parts together.
·         Try your hands on your own design
·         Personalize with notions

WEEK 6 – PROJECT 5: SOFT THROW PILLOW
·         Introduction to the materials of the project
·         Tracing pattern  unto the fabric and cutting out the fabric
·         Pinning fabric pieces together to prepare for sewing
·         Sewing together the parts
·         Stuffing the pillows
·         Try your hands on your own design
·         Personalize using notions



 SUMMER CLASSES
MACHINE SEWERS (AGES 9-13)         
6 WEEKS, 3 Days a week (Monday – Wednesday or Thursday – Saturday)
WEEK 1 – INTRODUCTION TO THE SEWING MACHINE
·         Introduction to the sewing machine
·         Safety rules for using a sewing machine
·         Understanding how the sewing machine works
·         Making a pin cushion, needle book and scissors holder with the sewing machine
·         How to take basic body measurements
·         Practice with left-over fabric pieces

WEEK 2 – PROJECT 1: PATCHWORK AND ART PIN
·         Introduction to the materials for the project
·         Cutting up different shapes of patches to be used
·         Stitching the pieces unto the clothing item
·         Stitching up the pieces for the Art pin
·         Make up your own design and pin them unto your school bag, t-shirt etc.

WEEK 3 – PROJECT 2: SOFT THROW PILLOW
·         Introduction to the materials for the project
·         Tracing the pattern unto the fabric and cutting it out
·         Measuring and ironing the allowance of the seams
·         Stitching up with the machine
·         Finishing and stuffing of the pillow
·         Try your hands on your own pillow design and personalize with notions

WEEK 4 – PROJECT 3: MY VERY OWN APRON
·         Introduction
·         Introduction to the materials for the project
·         Tracing the pattern unto the fabric and cutting it out
·         Measuring and ironing the allowance of the seams
·         Stitching up with the machine
·         Finishing
·         Try your hands on your own Apron design and personalize with notions

WEEK 5 – PROJECT 4: MY VERY OWN SKIRT
·         Introduction to the materials for the project
·         Tracing the pattern unto the fabric and cutting it out
·         Measuring and ironing the allowance of the seams
·         Stitching up with the machine
·         Fixing the elastic band to the skirt
·         Finishing
·         Try your hands on your own design and personalize with notions

WEEK 6 – PROJECT 5: ENVELOPE CLUTCH PURSE
·         Introduction to the materials for the project
·         Tracing the pattern unto the fabric and cutting it out
·         Measuring and ironing the allowance of the seams
·         Stitching up with the machine
·         Fixing buttons or clasps
·         Finishing
·         Try your hands on your own design and personalize with notions.
